Who should avoid lymphatic massage?

A lymphatic massage is intended to rev up the lymphatic system, circulating and filtering fluid at a faster rate. Therefore some contraindications to receiving this type of massage are as follows:

Active/untreated cancer

Acute infection/cellulitis

Renal failure/severe kidney disease

Congestive heart failure

Blood clot or pulmonary embolism in the past 2 months

Pulmonary edema

Unexplained abdominal pain

Foot fungus (due to not wanting to spread this throughout the body)

Congestive heart failure and kidney disease can be treated as long it is being managed by a physician who approves treatment/massage.
